Admitting you have a problem is always the first step in recovery, right?
I have a pen problem. I have TONS of them. Most of them are ball point click pens that come from church, organizations, medical supplies, previous jobs, conferences, etc. But I’m hear to tell you about some pens that should be near the top of your list as well. And head on to the bottom for a giveaway!
So, I’m going to talk about some pens here – and my thoughts. You might not agree with my thoughts – because pens are like kitchen knives: you have to know what you are going to use them for, and grip them in your hands, then you will know which ones are right for you.
My fave pen for every day writing: Poppin Pens. I had a free coupon and got a box of these. Love the bright colors and the medium tip. They are fun. They write smooth. I’m glad I got them free because they range about 1$ a pen.
My fave pen for everything else: Staedtler. Oh my. These write smooth and help me to write like I want to write. Its that easy. They are heavier pigmented so they can be seen from the other side of my Journaling Bible – but that’s ok for me. (And if anyone needs a gift idea for me for Christmas or birthday or just because, the pen set I have linked here would be marvelous)
Runner-ups:
Frixion: a friend of mine gave me some of these. They didn’t write smooth enough for me – but I loved their fine tips and there erasability.
Sharpie Pens: these really are stellar – they just don’t come in enough colors for me (so that’s why they aren’t my fave pens)
LePen: I remember writing with these in my younger days. The only reason they aren’t my favorite (because I love their colors and their writing size) is because they seem to be delicate. I find myself writing with a lighter hand when I write with these.
PaperFlair: These are really good too, but just are too generic for me and don’t come in enough colors. But, I really like them for every day lettering.

My favorite “pens” are actually the extra fine sharpee markers. Lots of color choices and I love how they write.

I have been using Artist’s Lofts to color my drawings/designs in my journal and they are okay (colored pencils) but I am still looking for a good set of lots of colors (pastels and brights) for use in my journal, Bible (doesn’t bleed through) and in some of my books. Thanks for all the tips.

I don’t do the lettering that you do, but my everyday pen is a Pilot G2, and my fun pen is a Micron dark navy 05 tip. I like the color variety and daintiness of LePens, but have only owned one 🙂

My favorite ink pen is a Pilot Precise V5 rolling ball. I’m left handed and I find that not every pen works for me. Must be the way I hold them. But I love different colors! I like Sharpie fine tips for that. It doesn’t matter how I hold them. They always work.

The Pilot Precise V5 is the only fine tip rolling ball pen that works for the way my left-hand hold the pen. Like the fine tip Sharpies too!

A girl after my own heart… A blog post on pens, how great!! I admire (your) lettering and the artistry that goes into Bible journaling in general. For my Inductive Bible study work I just use the Pigma Micron 05’s, but I don’t think they flow well enough for extended artwork. I like Zebra Z grips for daily homeschool/work use. 🙂

My all-time favorite everyday writing pen is the Pilot P-500 Gel Pen, black ink. It flows smoothly with fine precision!

I just bought some Faber-Castell fine tip pens. A variety of shades, even some metallic pastel in a medium marker-style point. Since watching “The War Room”, I invested in those for adding color to my wall Scriptures. Now to explore lettering… 🙂

I use a Uniball Vision fine for everyday use, but I love Micron pens for creative work. They’re just so expensive! Always looking for good pen recommendations. Thanks for the giveaway!

Some of my favorite pens are Pilot Precise Rolling Ball V5 (extra fine). I also like Pentel EnerGel. I’m curious about the Poppin pens … I’m game for anything to make grading papers more enjoyable! 🙂

Oh, you know me well, friend! My “church pen” that I use for sermon notes and Care Group requests is a Pilot Dr. Grip with a G2 refill. I love that pen. For my planner, I use Pigma MICRON 05, Stadetler Triplus Fineliner and a seven-color Pilot FriXion set. And for decorating cards, I love using Zig Clean Color real brush watercolor pens. I managed a set of 12 for a great price from Marker Supply. I have more than a pen problem…I kind of have an office supply problem. Office Depot, Staples, the office supply aisle at Target…my favorite places to be. 🙂
